I will be a What?
We had a career talk before at school and continued on at home, but unfortunately I became more confused. You see:
- My first choice is Criminology and it still is now, yet the decision-makers of my family (a.k.a parents) keep on asking me, ” You mean, you want to be a security guard when you grow up? ”Why won’t you choose nursing like your sister did or even engineering like us?” And yadayadayada. They have all the rights to ask me those questions since it’s my future we’re talking about but the thing is, hello? Security guard isn’t the only job you will end up with when you finish Criminology. And nursing is not practical. Lastly, ironically and sadly, even though my parents are both civil engineers, I was never given the gift of understanding numbers. Now I just have to explain that to my parents.
- A science high student dreaming to be a police officer (lol, not exactly)? Some people might react like, what?? They all expect tsci students to take up science-related courses which isn’t that bad since I like science, but what about my biggest dream?? Should it remain as a dream? NO WAY. It won’t be just a dream just because other people say so. I believe in the saying that goes:Expectations can kill. Nah, just made that up. But I could still help the country even if I’m not a physicist or a scientist, and besides Criminology is related to science. They just don’t know that because all that comes up to their mind when they hear criminologists are people raiding drug hideouts, security guards (ugh), etc. This is what you call ignorance, no offense.
- Above was my first choice which means there’s a second, and that is Geology. Too bad there are only 3 universities that are offering the course and they are all outside Bohol. Dad will never let me study away from home, it’s a bummer I know. So, that led me to my third choice, Geodetic engineering. And according to Paul, my friend who also wants to pursue this, said that there’s a little relation between geology and geodesy.
- I”m also confused if one should choose a course because it’s his passion or it is because it’s new or challenging to him? I don’t know -_-
But the good thing is, I still have time to think this over with. And that I should be more concerned of the present. Anyway, so this is what you feel when you’re in probation huh?Labels: career, future, probation, what
